Connor Barth looked like an eight year old after drinking a
can of Red Bull following North Carolina's 16-14 victory on Saturday. Can you blame
him? Barth admitted that his confidence
had slipped with his 3 of 11 kicking performance the first half of the season. But as most kickers understand, confidence is
a funny thing. Barth connected on all
three of his field goal attempts Saturday, including one for 44 yards to give UNC a
16 to 7 lead.
“I was tired of missing,”
Barth said, looking relieved. “You know
I’m so glad to go out here and help the team.” Barth had not hit a field goal since Carolina’s
win over Utah, 35 days before College Boston.
“It’s been a struggle these last four or five weeks, you know missing all those
field goals, but you know now I’m back, it’s a great feeling.”
The Heels now move up to 4-4 on the season and 3-2 in the
ACC, with three games to go.
