   Bad luck in the kicking game usually comes in the form of bad execution and that's what bit Miami on Monday night against Florida State. The Hurricanes had their chances against Florida State but botched two of them badly. Nobody feels as bad as holder Brian Monroe, who twice mishandled the ball for kicker Jon Peattie. In all, Miami missed three field goal attempts. Missing out on those points probably knocked Miami out of the national title hunt because it likely will take an undefeated run to reach the championship game.

That's the thing about this rivalry, it takes very little to change the outcome of the game and Miami has been on the winning edge of things so many times. The small mistakes will come back and haunt you in games like this. It was bound to bounce FSU's way at some point.
